Regrettably, the huge majority of those tribal artifacts have expired, or happen to be bartered off with European explorers, hence surviving examples are restricted largely to stoneworks, a few earthworks, or even stone art.

Tribal art is occasionally extended to incorporate some pre-historic European artwork (eg. Celtic artwork ), in addition to European folk art.
