Leweb3 : a french political rally?[en]

A lot of participants of Leweb3 conference went away from Paris very angry. It's appears that despite a high level programm and panel guests, the organizers missed the opportunity to make a success with one of the rare event of this category that take place in France. The schedule has been deeply arranged today to allow french presidential race candidates to give a unusefull (and french language) speech to a mainly foreign audience (55%) .
It seems that Loïc Le Meur, the main organizer and most known blogueur in France, did a hazardous mix between his sincere passion for Internet innovative actors and his personnal political involvment.
The bloggers have no mercy, especially if they post under emotion. And in a bloggers event, all equiped with laptops and despite a weak connectivity, the news were quickly published.
> Sierrablog did an open letter without ambiguity.
> Tom Morris made a digest of all the blogers complaints.
> Ben Metcalfe thinks it's a shame, "because Europe needs a good Internet conference".
> Tom Raftery propose to rename the conference "Loïc"
> On Noodlepie: "this conference wasn't the place to publicly cosy up to the French politirati and stick a bit more political currency in the bank"
> Techcrunch UK wonders "how big can an event go before it loses its soul and raison d’etre?". But appaently had great fun at the Netvibes party yesterday.
> "Why are they here?" asked Shane Richmond. But he also writes a balanced opinion:"However this sudden intervention from the real world is a good demonstration of the significance the internet now holds. [...] It may be a couple of days before we know whether bloggers in general consider Le Web 3 to have been a success or not."
The final word is about one of the debate. An already old debate : Is old media Dead?. "Based on the press desk in the reception and the fact that they got in for free, I'd say that we have a long way to go before they are dead" writes Tom Morris.
